New Family

So it's the Missus's Birthday coming Sunday and I decided to go big this year. She's been nagging me for a kitten or a something for quite a long time, and I finally decided to get her said kitten.

We went and got all the neccesary goodies, and obviously the kitten. Now he's at work with us, and sleeping next to me while I'm working. Lying happily on his little blankey.

After Tired Comes...

My previous Boss had a saying, After Tired Comes Stupid, and at this moment I'm pretty much at that place. I have been coding a little php-cli script to backup some MySQL Data offsite. I have been up most of the hours these last 3/4 days, and I'm starting to feel it now.

 

I'm missing something elementary in 'n piece of code, and I'm unable to find it, so I'm just gonna wait until I'm not relying on caffeine to keep my eyes open. My brain's fried, so I'm just gonna make tonight an early one…

Busy as hell..

Ok, I don't think I've got that kind of traffic going yet, but it feels as if I'm close enough.

 

Quickly went to the Electronics Dump Site this morning, to chuck away about half a ton of rubbish, just sitting in store rooms collecting dust…Lucky for me there were two minions that I can/could boss around. This made my life much better, but still very busy. It's funny how you can be busy, but the moment you get someone to help you, you get twice as busy, with half the productivity rate.

 

No matter that, I'm still happy that they're here, as I can put them on to do things like clean the workshop, sort the rubbish from the junk, and suchforth. That makes my life all the much better…

 

Hope you guys are having a good time and a good week. It's just week before my camping trip, and I'm counting down the days…

Happy

I'm so happy and Lucky that I don't need to go stand in any ques today. Why not today you might ask? Well here in South Africa Today is the Cutoff date for firearm license renewals. This means that after this you cannot convert your old Law License to the New 2000 Law License…Which means that there's a lot of people, standing in ques today…Just a little bit of information regarding said ques:

 

A Colleague of mine went to the police station to get sorted out. He arrived at 05h00 AM, and the que was 3 blocks long (Each block being 300m in length) By the time we called him to find out how things are going, it was about 11h00 AM. They have started moving, but when he looked back, he couldn't see the end of the que.

 

When standing in these ques I'm imagining that the worst problem is Toilet Facilities…Imagine everyone needting to relieve themselves because they have been standing in front of closed doors for the majority of the evening, waiting. Each bringing his flask of coffee…

 

So I'm glad I don't need to go stand in ques today…

So they screwed up...

The Builders…Why do they ALWAYS do this to me? Just as I get close to the finish line, some kind of screw-up stops us from finishing this work. I honestly don't know when we're going to finish this cabling.

 

They'll have to break down a wall or two, fix the piping, and rebuild…what fun that promises to be…

And We're Back

And what a weeken it's been! I'm just glad to be back at work again today. Honestly I am, but not for the work, but purely for the fact that today means the Camping & Fishing weekend's just THAT much closer…

 

We'll be visiting Donaldson Dam again, and I'm hoping to better my Personal Best of 10.1kg. I'm wishing for something in the line of 'n 14/15kg monster. Something that will last me a bit. That would make the trip at least a little bit better.

 

I'll have to get my claws onto some maize, so that I can start preparing. Mother gave me a second slow cooker this weekend. She was planning on dumping it, and I decided to take it. This just means I can now cook at double the normal pace, especially if/when I put the Pressure cooker on as well (also A gift from Mother).

 

Ok, back to work. This week's going to be hectic (To say the very least). I need to get my projects off the ground today. Luckily that all seems on track as my 2 little laborers arrived bright and early. I just need to put these two to work, and all will be right with the world.

So we come and dump another load of stuff on your lap. Just for the fun of it I presume?

 

I have just been given Project Number 4, also to be Completed in the previously mentioned 8 days. This ought to be interesting. At least I'm not working this weekend, so there's a bit of time to get away from work...

Rat Race...It never ends

So, once again we're in the fast lane. Everything going at a Boeing's pace, and no one caring to let you stop and take a breather...

 

I've got 8 days to get about 3 projects off the ground and finished in the same time. Thus I know I'm going to be majorly sleep deprived and in the near future probably forget what my house looks like. Luckily then I'm off for 4 days of fishing. And what a pleasure that's going to be. Sitting, fishing, eating...sleeping...

And for what it's worth, I missed posting, so sorry to those that miss it! I feel your pain.

This last few weeks have been very interesting to me. Have been doing a lot of research, and I'm planning on converting a satellite branch of ours from Windows Server 2k3 to Ubuntu in the near future. I don't even think they will notice this, as They currently use the machine ONLY for windows Shares (So don't ask me why the even HAVE that machine...

Today should be relatively quiet, with only a few meetings on the horizon. Let's hope I can stay under the radar...

I can see clearly now...

...the weekend's gone! So the weekend's over, and I'm back at work. What a weekend it was, It went past me at the speed of light, and all that remains of it is the distinct feeling that something happened...and that's about it.

Hopefully this week ain't gonna be that bad or busy, so I can try to get to work on my code. That would, of course be handy to get finished, as soon as possible...

Hope you guys had a better weekend, and that your week is amazing. Now I'm gonna get some pain killers, a jug of coffee and get to work...

Sad Day

So Here I am…wondering what to do with my blog. I’m finding it hard to keep it alive, and I honestly don’t know how to keep it going…

I’m considering killing it, as I don’t think I can keep up the blog all by myself (and besides no-one wants to read useless blabbering and I am the king of useless)

Life Sucks

We've all Had 'em. The bad days just don't are that nice.

We all need to take a breath, stand back and smile, because then it seems to go better.

Today I found out that our most important PC (luckily not one of my LInux Servers) Went Dead, and that we didn't have enough time to get it sorted for the weekend. Now the analogue system is up and running, and we'll have to use it this weekend.

So, in standing back, and looking at the day, this would make anyone's day, I hope you guys enjoy it...




So I watched scrubs tonight, and a part of a song from that JD and Turk Sang in an episode called "My Musical". Hope you enjoy it as much as I do...

I'm going to sit down, have some fun, and chill. Tomorrow I'm off, so I am going to sleep in, and only get up when I want to...let's see how that turns out for me...

(and now I'll stop rambling and talking nonsense, because I don't think I'm making any sense)

Still Working

So I'm at home, after the day, and guess what...I'm still working...What a suprise!

 

Still busy with the Windows Server 2003 machine, also, What a suprise...?!

 

I really need to get the other branches on Linux Servers, so that I don't need to spend the whole day working on ONE service on the server, but half a day, on the WHOLE server and all services.

 

Anyway, Wish me luck, I need to get on this, and get it finished tonight...

Busy

So I got here, and they Upgraded their Servers...Or should I say downgraded.

Upon coming here, I found no more Windows Server 2000 Machines, but rather A Windows Server 2003 Machine. This changed everything, as Terminal Services didn't work, and I had to revert to VNC...

Also Apache Didn't want to start, so I have to use something else...this is really turning my day upside down quite a bit...

Let's hope I can get out of here within the hour, as that would really make my day...

And it was morning...

So yesterday my working rained out. Now I have this huge backlog that I'll probably have to do tonight. What fun. Luckily in all this I got a good night's rest, and I feel much up to work today.

On Today's Menu - Visit another Satellite branch, and setup a database, web server and such forth on their system. This might actually be a challenge, as they still run MicroRubbish Windows Server 2000...

I made the decision that there would be NO IIS on the machines, and that I'd rather install Apache, and MySQL. This is made very easy by some clever guy that distributes the WebServ Package. Man - You have GOT to love him. Check it out Here.

I also need to set up remote access, so that I am able to log into the systems from my office, and that it's not neccesary to drive all the way there when there's a problem. So setting up encrypted RDP might be a little bit of a challenge on it's own, or not - I'll have to wait and see when I get there.

Anyway, I'm off to see the wizard, yup - that wonderful wizard of oz...Oh who am I kidding, Microsoft, Wizard? Yeah, Right!

I'm Back

And what a day it's been...Server's up, printer's up, and the network is working. It wouldn't have been necessary for me to go out to the site, of the silly "admin" didn't plug the ADSL modem into the wrong jack...jackass :P

Anyways, now it's time to get to the rest of the things for today...and I only have an hour left. I see some overtime in the making...sadly...

And it's morning again...

Luckily This time I got enough sleep in to at least carry me up to lunch time, and then I'll take a recharge voucher from anyone that cares enough to give one :P

Today, as mentioned previously, I need to go fix a server, set up a few printers on a network, and make sure that everyone is happy. If I can accomplish that, all should be right with the world...

I'll have to check and see how things goes today, but I'm hoping to take my lunch hour to work on the blog again, but I'm afraid that it might not even be as easy, but I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Good Night...

For those of you who actually DO care, you'll see that once again that blog's look has changed. I don't yet know wether I'm going to keep it this way or not, but that's for another time to worry.

Right now I want to say good night, sleep tight and all that jazz. I'm off for the night. I'm paced and need my sleep. tomorrow is once again going to be a long day...

What a Day...

Time to go home...and Dare I say it? Yes I dare - ABOUT TIME TOO.
This day has been way to long, and I couldn't care less about what was happning now. All that I want to do is go home, take a bath and hit the sheets.

As predicted by me, this week is going to have way too little days to do all that needs doing.

Tomorrow it's off to find the wizard, save a server and setup some printers...the problem is - after that I need to come back to the office, for some REAL work...which just sucks..

Anyways, I'll ramble a bit more later (I hope) otherwise...well, whenever you recieve the updates again...

Need Sleep

So I sat up until 1h00 this morning, playing around with the blog. Not that this was a waste of time, but it did cause me to have very little sleep before work this morning. Luckily I can't be angry at anyone but myself for this.

But, now I'm sitting here, almost asleep at work, and fighting off the tiredness. I think I'll take a little nap when getting home...

To top things off our DSL line as become unstable this morning, for no apparent reason. I'll give it a bit of time and see how it turns out, but if it doesn’t improve I'll have to chow out either the ISP or the phone company, none of which I’m ever in the mood of dealing with.

Anyway, let me be off to work again, and try not to fall asleep on the job...

'New Year's Resolution'

Busy & Bored

So it’s been a long time since there was any new content on this blog, and I do regret it…I’m hoping to fix this. I’m not making promises, but let’s try to make it a sort of ‘New Year’s Resolution’.
Let’s see what happens in 2009. I’ll try to update the blog more frequently, but I want to change the whole theme & idea of the blog. I want it to be a more general blog, basically because I don’t think I’ll have as much Bastard Content as I would like to…

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll put all the content that I can find on here…
